Killing Time Vampires

I see so much talk about “The Grind” and “Hustle” that I often wonder if we are sending the
wrong message to our entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Don’t get me wrong. I believe that in the beginning of your business you need to be prepared to
log 60 to 80 hour weeks.

That’s what I did. Wait, sometimes I still do that!
The one excuse that I just hate to hear from people in business is “I just didn’t have time. I am
so busy!”

You don’t have time to be successful?
But, if I were to watch you, I would point out that you seem to have plenty of time to text your
girlfriend, to watch TV, to go to the movies, to lurk on Facebook, to check out the new Snapchat
filters, to do whatever it is that is just wasting or draining your time.

Now, I’m not saying that you should wake up and “Rise and Grind” either. Life and your
business should never feel like a grind. Remember, we do not work in “the trenches”.

If I wanted to be in the trenches I would have taken a job working to build roads with the State of
California!

Remember that success does not come to those who work the most. Success comes to those
who work the best!

Time is money.

If you are keeping account of your money, why do you not keep the same degree of accounting
with your time?

Just like how you have to spend money to make money, you have to spend time to make time.

The question really is, “where are you spending your money?” and “where are you spending
your time?”

Just as you look to eliminate wasteful spending of your money, you need to eliminate wasteful
spending of your time.

Think on this one. Get real efficient with your time and you will find that you begin to have even
more time. That’s when it is ok to hit the golf course, go to Lake Tahoe or do whatever you
want with your time profits!
